The building blocks to learning and teaching math.
As a teacher, building a math foundation is central to becoming an effective math instructor. More specifically, it is readily important to think about ways to include approaches that challenge the notion of traditional math instruction. As Van de Wall, Karp, & Bay-Williams (2013) put it, "Ultimately, it is you, the teacher, who will shape mathematics for the students you teach. Your beliefs about what it means to know and do mathematics and about how students make sense of mathematics will affect how you approach instruction" (p. 1). Hopefully, some of the resources that are shared here will help that journey - one where you, as a teacher, build a strong math foundation to approach math in a radically different manner.
